Most residential green bin material is transported to composting facilities outside Sonoma County, including Novato and Ukiah.
The County of Sonoma owns the property. The project is managed by Sonoma County Public Infrastructure in collaboration with Zero Waste Sonoma.
Up to 70,000 tons per year initially — about 80% of residential green bin material generated in the County.
Yes. Finished compost would be available for public purchase on Saturdays.
No. Only material collected through residential green bin programs would be accepted.
There will be multiple opportunities for public participation during the CEQA process and at future community meetings.
A community open house is anticipated in Spring 2026.
