Stay Ready: Road Conditions, Alerts, and Storm Resources

Wet weather can quickly affect roads and travel throughout Sonoma County. Use these resources to report road concerns, check closures and flooding, prepare your vehicle, and monitor changing conditions before and during a storm.

Check conditions and report concerns

The County road-closure map covers County-maintained roads. It does not include state highways, city streets, or private roads. The Green Valley Road camera shows conditions at one location only. Always follow posted closures and never drive around a barricade.

Stay safe around flooded roads

Never drive through a flooded roadway or around a road-closure barricade. Water may be deeper or moving faster than it appears, and the roadway underneath may be damaged. If you encounter water covering the road, turn around and choose a safer route.

Turn around, don’t drown.

Get your vehicle ready for wet weather

Prepare before the rain begins:

  • Replace worn windshield wipers.
  • Check your headlights, brake lights, and turn signals.
  • Clean or restore weathered or hazy headlight lenses.
  • Inspect your tires and replace any with worn tread or visible damage.
  • Check tire pressure with a tire gauge. The recommended PSI is usually listed inside the driver’s door.
  • Keep a flashlight, extra batteries, a cellphone charger or power bank, a warm jacket, gloves, and a first-aid kit in your vehicle.

If you purchase fuel at a California gas station, ask the attendant about free air and use of a tire-pressure gauge. Keeping an inexpensive tire gauge in your vehicle is also a good idea.
