4th District Commissioner Idalia Topete

Idalia Topete outdoor selfie Idalia Topete is a lifelong Sonoma County resident and passionate advocate for women and underserved communities. Her dedication to youth and women’s leadership began firsthand as a participant in the MANA de Sonoma Hermanitas program. She later returned to the program as a mentor, guiding middle and high school aged Latinas through the education system, fostering civic engagement, and building self-confidence. During her tenure with MANA, Idalia twice attended national conferences in Washington D.C., co-piloted the "Inspire Forward" program with LandPaths, and coordinated successful collaborations with the CHOPS Teen Center.
An active civic leader, Idalia serves on the board and committee for the Roseland Cinco de Mayo Festival, the largest event of its kind in Sonoma County, welcoming over 5,000 attendees annually. Since joining the entertainment team in 2014, her leadership has expanded significantly; she co-chaired the vendor committee in 2024 and currently leads event logistics, managing local official coordination, committee recruitment, and digital media.
Currently, Idalia serves as the District Community Liaison for the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District. In this role, she collaborates with a team of school liaisons to strengthen family engagement and oversee district-wide initiatives that elevate parent voices, particularly within multilingual communities. Among her key responsibilities, she orchestrates the district’s annual Reclassification Ceremony for over 500 attendees and coordinates the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC). Deeply invested in youth development, she also co-advises the Rancho Cotate High School MEChA Club and Latino Student Union, organizing college visits, community service projects, and the annual Fiesta Latina.
A graduate of the Los Cien BRIDGE Program (Cohort 2), Idalia is committed to fostering inclusion, representation, and leadership across sectors. Her extensive community involvement also includes volunteering with Catholic Charities, A Simple Gesture Santa Rosa, and the Elsie Allen High School Girls Basketball Team. In her free time, she enjoys cake decorating, treat making, going to the cinema, and traveling.
