Public invited to share input on federal Coastal Management Program
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is seeking comments on a plan that could lead to the dismantling of environmental protections for California’s coast. NOAA is reviewing the Coastal Management Program, which is implemented by the California Coastal Commission, the State Coastal Conservancy and the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission. Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez announced that candidate nominations for the following offices up for election in November have been extended to close of business on Wednesday, Aug. 12 because one or more incumbents who were eligible to file did not do so by the Aug. 7 deadline. Tractor Supply Company Pays $5.1 Million to Settle Violations of Price Accuracy Laws, Pesticide Regulations and Greenwashing Claims
Sonoma County District Attorney, Carla Rodriguez announced today that Tractor Supply West, LLC (“Tractor Supply“) has entered into a Stipulated Judgment and will pay $5,126,282.97 in civil penalties, restitution, and costs to resolve a civil consumer protection action that alleged that the company violated California’s Price Accuracy laws, Pesticide Regulations and Greenwashing laws. The Sonoma County Health Officer today issued the following health advisory: Areas of northern Sonoma County may experience "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" or "Unhealthy" air quality caused by the wildfire event in Mendocino County near Hopland. Read full story
Sonoma County Transit launches Route 40X with new SMART connections beginning Aug. 10
Sonoma County Transit will launch Route 40X on Monday, Aug. 10, replacing the existing Route 40 with a redesigned schedule that offers timed connections to SMART trains in downtown Petaluma during peak commute hours. Read full story
Sonoma County updates health advisory due to poor air quality caused by the Woodside Fire
8:15 P.M. UPDATE: Conditions are changing quickly and the air quality conditions have evolved to "hazardous" and "very unhealthy" levels. The Sonoma County Health Officer today issued the following health advisory: Areas of Sonoma County may experience "very unhealthy" or "hazardous" air quality caused by the wildfire event along the coast near Timber Cove and Salt Point State Park. Santa Rosa Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Domestic-Violence Murder
Tunoa Radaiga Meo, 54 years old, of Santa Rosa, was sentenced today, by the Honorable Kenneth English. Meo’s sentencing follows the conclusion of a jury trial earlier this year in which he was convicted of first-degree murder stemming from an incident on July 4, 2023, in which he killed his wife, Marica Mara. Meo was sentenced to serve a term in the state prison of 1 year plus 25-years-to-life in prison. Read full story

Santa Rosa Man Sentenced to Prison for Pimping and Other Crimes
Defendant Arnulfo Favian Montes-Medina, 38-years-old of Santa Rosa was sentenced today by the Honorable Lynnette Brown to 1 year in county jail followed by 4 years of formal probation, following his conviction by a Sonoma County jury for felony domestic violence. The jury also found true that Montes-Medina personally used a deadly weapon during the assault, and personally inflicted great bodily injury upon the victim. Read full story
