Voter registration deadline for Nov. 3 General Election is Oct. 19
SANTA ROSA, CA | October 15, 2026
Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez is reminding residents that Monday, Oct. 19, is the deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 3 General Election. Eligible voters who miss the deadline can still register and vote in person through Election Day using California’s conditional voter registration process, also known as same-day registration, at the Registrar of Voters Office or any Vote Center.
There are two primary ways to register to vote:
- Online: Complete the California Secretary of State’s online voter registration form by 11:59 p.m. Oct. 19.
- On paper: Complete a physical registration form and drop it off (or have somebody drop it off for you) at the Registrar of Voters Office by 5 p.m. Oct. 19. Forms are available at most post offices and public libraries in Sonoma County. (While mailing the form is also an option, it is not recommended with the deadline being so close.)
To be eligible to register to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older on Election Day, and not in prison for the conviction of a felony. You can check to see if you are registered using the California Secretary of State’s My Voter Status lookup tool, or by calling the Registrar of Voters Office. If your name or address is different from how you are currently registered, it is best to re-register.
The Registrar of Voters Office, which moved in February, is located at 3880 Brickway Blvd., Suite 200, Santa Rosa, CA 95403. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding county holidays. Due to the upcoming election, the office will also be open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the two weekends immediately preceding the Nov. 3 election (Oct. 24-25 and Oct. 31-Nov. 1). On Election Day, the office will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
