Voters also have the option to vote by mail. All active, registered voters in Sonoma County were sent Vote-by-Mail ballots earlier this month. There are three main ways a voter can return their Vote-by-Mail ballot:

  1. Send it back in the mail. In order to count, it must be postmarked on or before Election Day (Nov. 3).

    Important Message About Postmarks
The United States Postal Service (USPS) can no longer guarantee that mail returned to USPS collection boxes will be postmarked the same day it is retrieved. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that voters not place their ballots in USPS collection boxes on Election Day (Nov. 3) or the day before Election Day (Nov. 2). Instead, voters should either:
    • Go to a physical post office location during business hours and request that a postal employee manually postmark their ballot.
    • Use a private mail delivery service.

  2. Drop it in any Official Ballot Drop Box in California before 8 p.m. on Election Day (Nov. 3).
  3. Take it to any open Vote Center in California.
