For Immediate Release
Deadline to register to vote in June 2 Statewide Direct Primary Election is May 18
SANTA ROSA, CA | May 14, 2026
Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez would like to remind residents that the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming June 2 Statewide Direct Primary Election is next Monday, May 18. However, eligible voters who miss the deadline still have the option to “conditionally” register (also known as “same-day registration”) and vote in person at the Registrar of Voters (ROV) Office or at any Vote Center.
To be eligible to register to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older on Election Day, and not in prison for the conviction of a felony. You can check to see if you are registered using the California Secretary of State’s My Voter Status lookup tool, or by calling the ROV Office. If your name or address is different from how you are currently registered, it is best to re-register.
There are two primary ways to register to vote:
- Fill out the California Secretary of State’s online voter registration form and submit it by 11:59 p.m. on May 18.
- Fill out a paper registration form and return it to the ROV Office by either:
- Dropping it off no later than May 18
- Mailing it with a postmark of May 18 or earlier
You can obtain a paper registration form at any post office or public library in Sonoma County. You can also contact the ROV Office and request that one be mailed to you.
The ROV Office is now located at 3880 Brickway Blvd, Santa Rosa, CA 95403. Standard days/hours of operation are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding county holidays. However, due to the upcoming election, the ROV Office will also be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the two Saturdays and Sundays prior to Election Day (May 23-24 and May 30-31), as well as from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Memorial Day (May 25). Finally, the ROV Office will have extended hours (7 a.m. to 8 p.m.) on Election Day (June 2).
