Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez announced today that official Vote-by-Mail ballots for the June 2 Statewide Direct Primary Election begin going out in the mail this morning to all active, registered voters in Sonoma County.

Also beginning today, any voter may pick up their Vote-by-Mail ballot or vote early in person at the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office, now located at 3880 Brickway Blvd, Santa Rosa, CA 95403. Any voter can authorize somebody else to pick up a Vote-by-Mail ballot for them by filling out an Application to Provide Vote-by-Mail Ballot to Representative.

Information about candidates and measures can be found in the County and/or State Voter Information Guides. Paper copies of these Guides began going out in the mail last month. In addition, voters can access them online by going to SoCoVotes.com and clicking on the Online Version of County Voter Information Guide and/or Online Version of State Voter Information Guide link(s) under the “June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election” heading.

There are three main ways a voter can return their Vote-by-Mail ballot:

  1. Send it back in the mail. In order to count, it must be postmarked on or before Election Day (June 2).
    Important Message About Postmarks
The United States Postal Service can no longer guarantee that mail returned to USPS collection boxes will be postmarked the same day it is retrieved. Therefore, we recommend that voters not place their ballots in United States Postal Service collection boxes on Election Day (June 2) or the day before Election Day (June 1).
  1. Drop it in one of 23 Official Ballot Drop Boxes throughout the County. All Official Ballot Drop Boxes will be open 24/7 beginning May 5 and close at 8 p.m. on Election Day (June 2).

  2. Take it to any open Vote Center in the County. Seven Vote Centers will be open daily from May 23 to May 29, and 32 Vote Centers (the original seven plus 25 more) will be open daily from May 30 to Election Day (June 2).

For a list and map of all Vote Centers and Official Ballot Drop Boxes, including addresses and dates/times they will be open, visit SoCoVotes.com and click on the List of Locations and/or the Interactive Map of Locations link(s) under the “June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election” heading.

Voters who want to track the status of their Vote-by-Mail ballot by email, text, or voice call can sign up to do so at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov or by contacting the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office.
