A statewide primary election is scheduled to take place on June 2, 2026. Offices up for election include Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Controller, Treasurer, Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner, State Board of Equalization, United States Representative, State Senator, Member of the State Assembly, Superior Court Judge, Superintendent of Public Instruction, County Superintendent of Schools, County Supervisor, Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector, and County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor.

Disclaimer: The dates listed below are not guaranteed to be correct and are still subject to change, particularly if new legislation is passed.

For most dates that fall on a Saturday, Sunday, or County holiday, use the next regular business day for transactions (with some exceptions – see and below). County holidays during this period include:

6/2/26 Election Day: All Vote Centers (both 11-Day and 4-Day) are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
6/9/26 Vote-by-Mail ballots which are postmarked on or before Election Day must be received by this date in order to be counted
7/2/26 Deadline to send certified election results to district governing boards

* Senate Bill 280, which was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom on Aug. 21, 2025, changed the date that signatures in lieu of filing fees open from Dec. 11, 2025 (“60 days before the first day for circulating nomination papers”), to Dec. 19, 2025.

Although the deadline to send ballots to currently registered military/overseas voters falls on a Saturday (4/18/26), because the deadline is set by federal election law, it does not move to the next business day.

11-Day Vote Centers and 4-Day Vote Centers are open every day in the date ranges shown, including Saturdays, Sundays, and Memorial Day (May 25, 2026).
