Community Emergency Response Team

Welcome to the Sonoma County CERT Program!

What is SoCo CERT?

SoCo CERT (Sonoma County Community Emergency Response Team) is a program that educates volunteers about disaster preparedness and trains them in essential response skills. CERT is a national program created by FEMA to train volunteers to assist in emergency situations in their communities. It bridges the critical gap between the initial onset of an emergency and the arrival of professional first responders.

CERT volunteers are trained to provide safe, effective assistance during earthquakes, wildfires, floods, and other local hazards. The SoCo CERT Program is a nationally recognized initiative that empowers everyday people to prepare for and assist during emergencies and disasters. In Sonoma County, CERT volunteers play a vital role in building stronger, safer, and more resilient neighborhoods.

SoCo CERT is more than just training — it’s a community network of neighbors working together to stay prepared and respond effectively. Whether facing wildfires, earthquakes, power outages, or floods, members gain the knowledge and confidence to act safely and responsibly when emergencies strike.

By joining SoCo CERT, you’ll learn practical, life‑saving skills, connect with like‑minded neighbors, and contribute directly to the safety and resilience of your community. No prior experience is needed — just a willingness to learn, help others, and serve.
