Volunteers Needed for the 2026 Point-in-Time Count!

The County of Sonoma is currently looking for volunteers to help with the 2026 Point-in-Time Count! The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a day in which local government staff and volunteers come together and go out into community to collect data about the number of individuals experiencing homelessness in their respective communities. The Point-in-Time Count is a federal requirement for government jurisdictions interested in receiving federal homeless assistance funds. It also provides critical data for understanding local homelessness and supporting strategic decisions about the County’s homeless support programs. Read full story

Memorial to recognize 43 lives lost in Sonoma County’s unhoused community this year

On Dec. 19, two days before National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, HomeFirst and the Sonoma County Department of Health Services will host a memorial to honor the 43 individuals who lost their lives between Jan. 1 and Nov. 30 while living without housing in Sonoma County. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Arlene Francis Center, 99 6th St., Santa Rosa, and is open to the public. The space is being provided by FS Global, and Community Foundation Sonoma County granted the needed funding to host the memorial. Read full story

On November 13, 2025, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued the Continuum of Care (CoC) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for 2025 Continuum of Care Funds. Sonoma County applicants are eligible to compete for a combined total of approximately $4.2 million in new and renewal FY 2025 Continuum of Care (CoC) project funding.
