Objective:

New Employee Orientation (NEO) and onboarding training and coursework will introduce new employees into the County’s culture, racial equity and belonging objectives, and provide the necessary tools and information needed to become a thriving member of the County workforce.

NOTE: Tier 1 is mandatory for all new employees.

Summary:

All new employees attend the Workforce Development hosted NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION on or around their first day. Members of the HR Department (WorkDev, Benefits, DM units), as well as OOE, DEM and ACTTC (Payroll and Deferred Comp units) present the workshop. The new hires additionally meet with their applicable Bargaining Unit representatives.

New employees are also enrolled in a series of web-based trainings as part of NEO through sonoma higher ed, the County's learning management system (LMS). These courses focus on County Critical Topics and other mandated assignments from the county:

  • Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
  • Disaster Service Worker & Emergency Management (DEM)
  • Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace (COUNTY)
  • Occupational Safety & Health (HRD)
  • Preventing Harassment, Discrimination & Retaliation (ELR)
  • Racial Equity Series (HRD)
  • Technology Security & Use Guidelines (ISD)
  • Workplace Violence Prevention (WVP)
