Airport Boulevard overcrossing dedicated to Sonoma County Sheriff deputies killed in line of duty
The Airport Boulevard overcrossing at Highway 101 north of Santa Rosa has been dedicated to three Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office employees killed in the line of duty. The bridge is now called the Detective Sergeant Ed Wilkinson, Deputy Sheriff Brent Jameson, and Deputy Sheriff Bliss Magly Memorial Overcrossing. Read full story
Health Officer issues mask order in specified health care facilities, encourages residents to get vaccinated for flu and COVID-19
To protect against the elevated risk of respiratory virus-related illnesses, such as COVID and flu, during the fall and winter, Sonoma County’s Health Officer Dr. Mia Shim issued a health order requiring health care personnel and others to mask in patient care areas of specified health care facilities. The health order, designed to protect the most vulnerable people in our community, will be in effect from Nov. 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027. Read full story
County’s strategic office purchase, pre-construction contract reduce long-term costs, address aging facilities
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today unanimously approved the $49.5 million purchase of an office building at 400 Aviation Blvd. in Santa Rosa that will provide modern space for County services, strengthen emergency response capabilities and help reduce the cost and size of the proposed new County Government Center. In a separate vote, the Board also unanimously approved a contract for pre-construction services for the County Government Center. Read full story

Sonoma County issues health advisory due to poor air quality from Salmon Creek prescribed burn
The Sonoma County Health Officer today issued the following health advisory: Areas of western and central Sonoma County may experience "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups," "Unhealthy," “Very Unhealthy” or “Hazardous” air quality caused by the Prescribed Burn event near Bodega Bay. Certain people may experience adverse health effects from the smoke over Sonoma County and across the region. High temperatures can worsen the effects of high Air Quality Index (AQI) events. Sonoma County thanks federal representatives for securing FEMA funding
Thanks to a successful lobbying effort from Sonoma County’s Congressional delegation, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved a $5.5 million reimbursement to the County for costs incurred during the January 2017 severe winter storms. Read full story

Ballots begin going out in the mail today for November 3 General Election
Ballots for the November 3 General Election will begin going out in the mail today to all active, registered voters in Sonoma County, according to Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez. The ballots are expected to take between three and 10 days to arrive. Read full story
