The evaluation panel carefully reviewed and analyzed the proposals received in response to the Comprehensive Fee Study Consulting Services RFP solicitation. County Assessor and Tax Collector warn of false ‘1098-SR’ property tax claims targeting seniors

Deva Marie Proto, Sonoma County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor, and Erick Roeser, Sonoma County Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector, are warning seniors and other property owners about false online claims and scam calls urging them to file a so-called ‘Form 1098-SR’ to reduce or freeze property taxes or avoid school bonds. No such IRS form exists, and these messages are not legitimate. Read full story

Sonoma County to break ground on new youth behavioral health campus at Los Guilicos

Sonoma County officials will break ground on a new youth behavioral health campus at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 322 Hood House Drive in Santa Rosa. The facility will expand access to urgently needed mental health and substance use treatment for adolescents, young adults and their families. Members of the media are invited to attend. Sonoma Water board names Brad Sherwood interim general manager

The Sonoma Water Board of Directors has named Assistant General Manager Brad Sherwood interim general manager, effective Sept. 15. Sherwood will succeed General Manager Grant Davis, who will retire Sept. 14 after 16 years leading the agency. Read full story

Public invited to share input on federal Coastal Management Program

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is seeking comments on a plan that could lead to the dismantling of environmental protections for California’s coast. NOAA is reviewing the Coastal Management Program, which is implemented by the California Coastal Commission, the State Coastal Conservancy and the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission. Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez announced that candidate nominations for the following offices up for election in November have been extended to close of business on Wednesday, Aug. 12 because one or more incumbents who were eligible to file did not do so by the Aug. 7 deadline.
