Sonoma County Historical Records Commission to recognize four at Collections and Archives ceremony
SANTA ROSA, CA | March 04, 2026
The Sonoma County Historical Records Commission today announced four recipients of its fifth annual Collections and Archives Recognition Awards. These awards recognize the accomplishments and contributions of individuals, groups, agencies, collections, or archives located within Sonoma County and focus on existing collections as well as recognizing special efforts to preserve and use archival material in promoting history and cultural preservation.
The awards will be presented in conjunction with the Sonoma County Historical Society’s annual meeting at Iron and Vine in Santa Rosa on March 15.
This year, the Commission will bestow two separate awards with four recipients. The recipients include:
- Kelly Richardson, who will be recognized in the category of Special Projects for performing exhaustive research on the Gualala Cemetery to identify those buried in the cemetery and documenting their lives.
- Amy Kittlestrom (History Professor, Sonoma State University), D'mitra Smith (Santa Rosa-Sonoma County NAACP), and Lucia Jameau (UCLA Alumna), who will be recognized in the category of Collaborative Partnerships for their work investigating records related to the history of slavery and other unpaid labor in Sonoma County.
The Sonoma County Historical Society annual luncheon and awards ceremony is set to take place on Sunday, March 15 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Iron and Vine, 3328 Yulupa Ave. in Santa Rosa. For more information, visit https://sonomacountyhistory.org/events/annual-awards-luncheon/
