Leading the Way

The Sonoma County MPA is led by Goal Area Action Teams, the MPA Oversight Committee, and the Aging and Disability Commission.

The Master Plan for Aging Oversight Committee (formerly Aging Together Sonoma County) provides expertise, guidance, and decision-making on the implementation of MPA strategies (including guidance on approaches, actions, timelines, and stakeholders).

Members serve as thought partners and initiative advocates, bridging work between Action Teams, community leadership, and the Aging & Disability Commission. Additionally, Oversight Committee members review MPA stipend applications and may be asked to join the MPA Speaker’s Bureau or find other ways to advocate for MPA work and principles.

Implementation Structure

Aging and Disability Commissioners sit on MPA Action Teams as well as the Oversight Committee. The Aging and Disability Commission hears regular updates from MPA Action Teams and works to align Commission priorities with MPA priorities.

The MPA Oversight Committee grew out of the Aging Together Steering Committee. Membership includes Action Team Chairs and executive leadership from local funders, non-profits, County departments and the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors.

The Oversight Committee provides expertise, guidance, and decision-making on the implementation of MPA strategies (including guidance on approaches/actions, timelines, and stakeholders).

Action Team members meet monthly to prioritize adopted strategies and to create and operationalize goal area action plans. They also select performance measures, attend training opportunities, and support community networking and messaging. The chair of each Action Team sits on the Oversight Committee to support cross-team collaboration.
