Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP)
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors authorized the creation of the Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP) in March 2009. As a county-administered, public service program, it provided PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) financing services and related resources community-wide, without profit.
SCEIP is now closed to new applications. Although the program is now closed, existing assessments will continue to be serviced through maturity. Customers with active assessments will continue to see their SCEIP assessment appear on their property tax bill.
We sincerely thank these property owners for their participation and long-standing commitment to the program.
Board Actions
- July 14, 2026: The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved staff’s recommendation to wind down SCEIP and closed the commerical program due to lack of interest. For more information on the program closure please review Board Item 2026-47 and the associated presentation.
- July 8, 2025: Following new federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) regulations affecting all residential PACE programs, the Board of Supervisors approved the closure of residential SCEIP. Residential applications were no longer accepted starting in January 2026. The Commercial program remained open to assess it's long term viability.
