Windsor Man Convicted of Attempting to Murder His Ex-Girlfriend Receives Life Sentence

Rafael Onofre-Remigio, 31 years old of Sebastopol, was sentenced yesterday by the Honorable Kenneth J. Gnoss to serve 3 years in state prison following a conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol. This offense was Onofre-Remigio’s 4th DUI conviction in the past 10 years – his 2nd felony and his 5th overall. Read full story

Joshua A. Myers selected as Sonoma County Counsel

Joshua A. Myers, a seasoned attorney with more than two decades of experience, including 16 years with the County of Sonoma, has been appointed County Counsel. Most recently serving as Chief Deputy County Counsel, Myers was selected after a nationwide search. He will take over for County Counsel Robert Pittman, who is retiring. Read full story

County of Sonoma enters negotiations with United Soccer League to evaluate Fairgrounds for stadium development

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today approved a Letter of Intent with the United Soccer League, launching a nine-month process to evaluate the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, and other County-owned properties in Santa Rosa, for a potential new multi-purpose stadium and mixed-use entertainment district. Memorial to recognize 43 lives lost in Sonoma County’s unhoused community this year

On Dec. 19, two days before National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, HomeFirst and the Sonoma County Department of Health Services will host a memorial to honor the 43 individuals who lost their lives between Jan. 1 and Nov. 30 while living without housing in Sonoma County. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Arlene Francis Center, 99 6th St., Santa Rosa, and is open to the public. The space is being provided by FS Global, and Community Foundation Sonoma County granted the needed funding to host the memorial. Read full story

Zoe Rosenberg Sentenced to 90 Days Jail After Jury Trial Conviction and Unsubstantiated Claims of Animal Cruelty at Petaluma Poultry

Defendant Zoe Rosenberg, 23-years-old of Berkeley, was sentenced today by the Honorable Kenneth Gnoss after a Sonoma County jury convicted her in November of felony conspiracy and three misdemeanors arising from a coordinated June 13, 2023 incursion at Petaluma Poultry. The jury found that she conspired with other Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) members to unlawfully enter the USDA regulated facility, remove live chickens, steal business records, and interfere with commercial operations. She was sentenced to 90 days of county jail, 60 of which can be served on jail alternatives such as electronic home confinement, as a condition of felony probation. Read full story

CodeRED is the system behind the County’s SoCoAlert system. This is a nationwide vendor side incident and is not a breach of any County systems or networks.
