District 1 December 2025 Newsletter
Dear Friends, I can't believe that 2025 is already coming to a close! We packed a lot into the last twelve months, and I have enjoyed getting out and speaking with community members from every corner of the First District. RFP Electronic Health Records System
The Sonoma County Department of Health Services (Department) is pleased to invite you to respond to a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Electronic Health Records System. The Department is seeking a vendor that has experience providing comprehensive EHR systems in a California County Department or Division of Public Health Services. The system should be a single, comprehensive solution to address public health and medication and case management workflows and documentation. Proposals must be received no later than 2:00 P.M. on January 13, 2026. Read full story
2025 Notice of Funding Opportunity CoC Program Competition and Sonoma County CoC Request for Proposals
On November 13, 2025, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued the Continuum of Care (CoC) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for 2025 Continuum of Care Funds. Sonoma County applicants are eligible to compete for a combined total of approximately $4.2 million in new and renewal FY 2025 Continuum of Care (CoC) project funding. In total, $4,261,805 is available for both existing renewals and new project proposals. Read full story
2024 March 12 - John Rector
On March 12, 2024, fifty-five-year-old John Rector shot himself in the head with his own firearm inside the Best Western Petaluma Inn while law enforcement was attempting to take him into custody. Mr. Rector died as a result of this gunshot wound a few days later. Following the infliction of the gunshot wound, the Santa Rosa Police Department invoked the Sonoma County Law Enforcement Employee-Involved Fatal Incident Protocol (“protocol”). The purpose of this protocol is to set forth procedures and guidelines to be used by Sonoma County law enforcement agencies in the criminal investigation of specifically defined incidents involving law enforcement employees. Under this protocol an outside law enforcement agency is designated to investigate officer-involved fatalities. Read full story

Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Draft Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report
The Sonoma County Community Development Commission has prepared a draft Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) for projects funded and completed during the FY 24-25 reporting period. This report highlights the accomplishments of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Programs and is available for review here Read full story
Sonoma County Homeless Coalition Board 2026 Elections - Nominations due November 20th
The Sonoma County Homeless Coalition Board is the decision-making body of the Sonoma County Continuum of Care. The Sonoma County Continuum of Care addresses the problems of housing and homelessness by having a countywide, community-informed, and person-centered CoC system that is compassionate, inclusive, financially responsible, equitable, coordinated, and outcomes based. Nominations and Statement of Interest forms will be accepted until November 20th by 5pm. Read full story
