Volunteers Needed for the 2026 Point-in-Time Count!
The County of Sonoma is currently looking for volunteers to help with the 2026 Point-in-Time Count! The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a day in which local government staff and volunteers come together and go out into community to collect data about the number of individuals experiencing homelessness in their respective communities. The Point-in-Time Count is a federal requirement for government jurisdictions interested in receiving federal homeless assistance funds. It also provides critical data for understanding local homelessness and supporting strategic decisions about the County’s homeless support programs. Read full story
Memorial to recognize 43 lives lost in Sonoma County’s unhoused community this year
On Dec. 19, two days before National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, HomeFirst and the Sonoma County Department of Health Services will host a memorial to honor the 43 individuals who lost their lives between Jan. 1 and Nov. 30 while living without housing in Sonoma County. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Arlene Francis Center, 99 6th St., Santa Rosa, and is open to the public. The space is being provided by FS Global, and Community Foundation Sonoma County granted the needed funding to host the memorial. Read full story

2025 Notice of Funding Opportunity CoC Program Competition and Sonoma County CoC Request for Proposals
On November 13, 2025, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued the Continuum of Care (CoC) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for 2025 Continuum of Care Funds. Sonoma County applicants are eligible to compete for a combined total of approximately $4.2 million in new and renewal FY 2025 Continuum of Care (CoC) project funding. In total, $4,261,805 is available for both existing renewals and new project proposals. Read full story
Sonoma County Homeless Coalition Board 2026 Elections - Nominations due November 20th
The Sonoma County Homeless Coalition Board is the decision-making body of the Sonoma County Continuum of Care. The Sonoma County Continuum of Care addresses the problems of housing and homelessness by having a countywide, community-informed, and person-centered CoC system that is compassionate, inclusive, financially responsible, equitable, coordinated, and outcomes based. Nominations and Statement of Interest forms will be accepted until November 20th by 5pm. Read full story

Sonoma Valley’s first Rapid Rehousing Program offers financial incentives to landlords who rent units to people experiencing homelessness
HomeFirst and the Sonoma County Department of Health Services are launching the first-ever Rapid Rehousing Program dedicated to Sonoma Valley, a region where approximately 100 people are currently experiencing homelessness. Read full story
